  • Population: SC was the nation's 10th fastest-growing state, with a population growth rate of 1.7% from July 1, 2007 to July 1, 2008, according to the latest population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau.  SC has a population of more than 4.4 million.  Both Greenwood County and Laurens County populations are just under 70,000 each.  Abbeville has a population of 25,000+ and Newberry County has a population of 36,000+ (source: U.S. Census Bureau, Dec. 2008).
